Irish News · 18 Members from Class of 2018 Commit to Colleges to Continue Athletic Careers


Akron, Ohio- On Tuesday, May 1, 2018, St. Vincent-St. Mary High School (STVM) recognized all members of the Class of 2018 who have made an athletic commitment to continue their career at the collegiate level next year. This is a very rewarding day for our school as we send these seniors off to different colleges and universities all over the country, as representatives of the quality of student our school produces. Today we recognized 16 student-athletes who have committed to a very impressive list of schools.

Ellie Cicione has been on the girls lacrosse team for four years and is a four year letterman. Ellie is committing to Notre Dame College where she will continue her lacrosse career.

Cameron Ervin has been on a Varsity football team for four years and is a three year letterman.  Cameron received the 2017 Football Provie Tomei VM75/Joe Nist M50 Award. Cameron also plays lacrosse.  Cameron is committing to The University of Toledo to continue his football career.

Sara Foster has been on the track and field team for four years and is a four year letterman.  Sara is a 3 time  State Qualifier, 2015 State Champion in the 4×400 Meter Relay, 5th Place in the 2015 4×800 Meter Relay, 5th Place in the 2016 300 Meter Hurdles, 9th Place in the 2017 4×200 Meter Relay, 2017 300 Meter Hurdles Runner Up. Sara also plays basketball.  Sara is committing to the University of Akron to continue her career.

Eric Taggart has been on the varsity football team for four years and is a three year letterman. Eric is committing to Mount Union to continue his football career.

David Heath has been on the wrestling team for four years and is a four year letterman. David is a two time state placer and qualifier.   David is committing to Brown University to continue his wrestling career.

David Johnson has been on the wrestling team for four years and is a four year letterman.  David Johnson is a 2018 State placer and qualifier. David is committing to Kent State University to continue his wrestling career.

Maura Knox has been on the girls golf team for four years and is a four year letterman.  Maura is committing to University of Mount Union to continue her golf career.

Tyler Lattea has been on the Varsity Football team for four years and is a two year letterman.  Tyler received the 2017 Football Dan Boarman V70- Coach’s Award. Tyler also plays baseball. Tyler will be committing to Baldwin Wallace University to continue his Football career.

Leah Lisle has been on the Varsity Cross Country Team and Track and Field Team for four years.  Leah will be committing to Kent State University to continue her running career. 

Morgan Mellinger has been on the varsity volleyball team for four years and is a three year letterman.  Morgan will be committing to Baldwin Wallace University to continue her Volleyball career. 

Kendall Miller has been on the varsity girls basketball team for four years and is a four year letterman.  Kendall was selected as a 2018 first team WTCBCA and all star, 2018 rotary summit county all star, 3rd team all-ohio inland, 2017 and 2018 3rd coast hoops all star and a 2017 WTCBCA Honorable Mention. Kendall is committing to The University of Akron where she will continue her basketball career.

Jack Mullin has been on the baseball team for four years and is a three year letterman.  Jack also plays football. Jack is committing to John Carroll University to continue his baseball career.

Adam Neill has been on the varsity football team for four years and is a three year letterman. Adam was a recipient of the 2017 Football Coach Maligio Award.  Adam is committing to John Carroll to continue his football career.

Zachary Olson has been on the varsity football team for four years and is a two year letterman.  Zachary was a 2017 All- Ohio Selection and a 2017 All District selection. Zach won the 2017 LeBron James Best Wide Receiver Award, Most Improved Player, and Offensive MVP Award. Zachary is committed to The University of Chicago to continue his football career.

Joanna Stecz has been on the girls lacrosse team for four years and is a four year letterman. Joanna has also been on the varsity cheer team for four years.  Joanna is committing to Wittenberg where she will continue her lacrosse career.  Just as of last weekend, Joanna, made the cheer squad at Wittenberg.  She will now be apart of both teams in college.

Patrick White is a four year letterman the cross country team and is a three year letterman on the track and field team. Patrick White is committing to John Carroll University to continue his running career.

Faith Williams has been on the varsity girls basketball team for four years and is a four year letterman.  Faith has set three school records in her career: Girls Basketball Season High 3’s made, at 73.  Girls Basketball Game High 3’s Made at 10: previous record was 7. The only person who has made more 3’s than her in a single game is LeBron James with 11 in 2003.   School record, boys and girls, most 3 pointers made in a single season, 73. Faith was selected as a 2018 second team WTCBCA and all star, 2018 rotary summit county all star, 2017 and 2018 3rd coast hoops all star,  2nd team cleveland.com top 50 candidate, 2nd team all ohio, 1st team all inland, and 2017 WTCBCA Honorable Mention. Faith is committing to Notre Dame College to continue her basketball career.

Luke Wymer has been on the varsity wrestling team for four years and is a four year letterman.  Luke is a four time sectional and district champion. Luke is the 2018 OHSAA Division II 138 pound State Champion. Luke is committing to Ashland University to continue his wrestling career.
